Report from PYA/PHC
Through PYA, has come a request to comment on the Inner Harbour Reconfiguration Proposals for Yarmouth Harbour. I know this is a favourite spot for some of us and the proposals may help some with that 'crowded feeling'. Currently they are 'consulting'. I have made some hopefully constructive comments on behalf of RCC. The proposals give more 'walk ashore' and services - but no doubt at a cost! They claim that the number of visitor's berths will be broadly maintained, but the pontoons do seem a little tight. If anyone wants to view the proposals, they can be seen on 'www.yarmouth-harbour.co.uk'. The RYA have also commented and requested consideration of some changes to accommodate recommended practices!
Harbour News.
Apparently 'the authorities' would like to enlarge Poole Boat Haven, but the Council is not that keen. (Boat Show gossip)
There is concern in some quarters, about the safety of boat movements between the two bridges - when it happens!
Report of Offshore
I expect you have seen the reports of the Government's announcement of their intention to put a large wind farm off the Hampshire/Dorset Coast. The RYA will be earning our affiliation fee then! With the commercial traffic into/out of Poole, I expect there will be a 'navigable channel' to give us the required 1nm clearance through. The passage to The Solent is not likely to be affected.
